About the event

Noah Summarized

Genesis 6:9–11:32

Noach (נֹחַ) means “rest” or “repose” in Hebrew. As violence and corruption spread throughout the earth, God instructs Noah to build an ark to preserve his family and the animals from a devastating flood.

After the flood, Noah offers sacrifices, and God establishes a covenant, promising never again to destroy all life by a flood, with the rainbow as its sign.

The account continues with Noah’s descendants and the Tower of Babel, where God confuses humanity’s language and scatters the people across the earth.

The portion concludes with the genealogy from Shem to Abram and Abram’s family journey from Ur toward Canaan.
