About the event

Parshah Shemini

The name "Shemini" means "eighth" and is found in Leviticus 9:1.

On the eighth day, following the seven days of their inauguration, Aaron and his sons begin to officiate as kohanim(priests). A fire issues forth from G‑d to consume the offerings on the altar, and the divine presence comes to dwell in the Sanctuary.

Haftarah

The haftarah mirrors a powerful theme from the Torah reading — both Nadab and Abihu and Uzzah were struck dead for handling the sacred without proper reverence. The message is clear: closeness to the divine demands the highest degree of holiness and care.
