Parshah Eikev Summarized
Deuteronomy 7:12–11:25
In Eikev ("Because"), Moses tells Israel that if they obey God's commandments, He will keep His covenant, bless them, and give them victory in the Promised Land.
He reminds them of their rebellion in the wilderness, including the golden calf, emphasizing that God chose them because of His covenant with their forefathers, not because of their own righteousness. Despite their failures, God forgave them and continued to lead them.
Moses recalls God's provision of manna to teach that life depends on God's word. He describes the land as rich and abundant, warning Israel not to become proud or forget that God is the source of their blessings.
The portion ends with a call to love God, obey His commandments, teach them to future generations, and remain faithful so they may prosper in the land He promised to their ancestors.
