About the event

Ki Tavo Summarized

Deuteronomy 26:1–29:8

Ki Tavo means “when you come.” Moses instructs Israel that upon entering the land, they are to present their first fruitsbefore God, remembering their deliverance from Egypt and giving thanks for the land He has provided. Instructions are also given concerning tithes and care for the Levite, stranger, orphan, and widow.

Israel is commanded to proclaim blessings and curses on Mount Gerizim and Mount Ebal. Moses declares that obedience to God’s commandments will bring blessings, while disobedience will bring severe consequences, including disease, famine, defeat, oppression, captivity, and exile.

Moses concludes by reminding Israel of God’s deliverance, provision, and protection throughout their forty-year journey.
