About the event

Nitzavim–Vayelech Summarized

Deuteronomy 29:9–31:30

Nitzavim means “Standing,” and Vayelech means “To Go” Israel stands together before God to renew the covenant. Moses warns that disobedience will bring judgment and exile, but promises that when Israel returns to God, He will gather them from among the nations and restore them to the land.

Moses declares that the Torah is within Israel’s reach and presents the choice between life and death, blessing and curse, urging them to choose life through obedience.

As his life nears its end, Moses appoints Joshua as his successor, records the Torah, and commands its public reading every seven years. He also warns that Israel will eventually turn away from God, while declaring that His words will remain with their descendants.
