Vayeira Summarized
Vayeira means “And He appeared.” God promises Abraham and Sarah a son and reveals His intention to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. Abraham pleads for the cities, but they are destroyed, while Lot and his daughters escape.
Sarah gives birth to Isaac, and Hagar and Ishmael are sent away, though God protects them.
God later tests Abraham by commanding him to sacrifice Isaac. At the last moment, God stops Abraham, and a ram is sacrificed in Isaac’s place.
